Dr. Yusuf Olatunbosun Tafa is a prominent Mechanical Engineer and Aerospace Systems Expert, renowned for his contributions to the field. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Beihang University in China, specializing in the manufacturing of aerospace vehicles.
Dr. Tafa’s academic journey began at A.U.D. Primary School and Eyo-Oke Comprehensive High School in Oyin-Akoko, leading him to obtain a B. Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University) in 1997. He further advanced his studies by completing an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ibadan in 2002.
He started his professional career in education before joining the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) in 2003, where he currently serves as the Director of Engineering and Space Systems. His expertise encompasses satellite engineering, structural analysis, and the mechanical design, assembly, integration, and testing of spacecraft, gained through advanced training in China, the United Kingdom, and Italy.
Dr. Tafa is a registered engineer with COREN and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers (NISEng). In addition to his responsibilities at NASRDA, he is also a part-time Senior Lecturer at Achievers University in Owo and serves as an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Space Science and Engineering at the African University of Science and Technology in Abuja.
