Engr. Nurudeen Takuma is a highly regarded professional with 20 years of experience in civil service, currently serving as the Acting Director of the Special Duties Department at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). He is recognized for his technical expertise and strategic vision, effectively overseeing critical projects that support NASRDA’s mission to enhance space science in Nigeria.
Takuma holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, earned in 1994, and a Master’s degree in Solid State Physics, obtained in 2012. This unique blend of education enables him to tackle complex challenges in satellite technology and space research.
Since joining NASRDA in 2005 as a Principal Scientific Officer, he has played a pivotal role in advancing Nigeria’s scientific capabilities, particularly in satellite communications and project management. Since his appointment as Acting Director in 2023, he has spearheaded initiatives such as collaborating with the Nigcomsat-A KHTT team, launching a Space Innovation Hub to support aerospace startups, and promoting reforms for greater transparency and inter-agency cooperation.
Engr. Takuma is dedicated to fostering accountability and innovation in public service, actively building partnerships with federal ministries, academic institutions, and international organizations to drive progress in Nigeria’s space sector.
