Dr. Olusegun Sholiyi is currently the Director/ Chief Executive at Centre for Space Transport and Propulsion (CSTP), Epe-Lagos, one of the activity Centres at National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). He is also the pioneer and current Chapter Chairman of Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineer (NIEEE), Epe/Ibeju-Lekki Chapter, Lagos.
Prior to his appointment as the Director/Chief Executive at CSTP, he served as Coordinator at Advanced Aerospace Engines Laboratory (AAELab), Oka-Akoko, Ondo State from October 2017 to December 2018.


In addition, he has over twenty-four (24) years of experience working at different levels of the engineering sphere which includes: Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Systems Engineering, and presently the Aerospace Engineering field. Since joining NASRDA, Dr. Sholiyi has made remarkable contributions towards Nigeria’s Space Programme.


He served in 2001 as the Deputy Team Leader on NigeriaSat-1 project in England, UK. In the course of this mission, Dr. Sholiyi alongside the Team Leader, led trainee Engineers to Surrey Satellite Technology Limited, Guildford, United Kingdom, for the mission design, preliminary design and critical design reviews of Nigeria’s first Earth Observation Satellite (NigeriaSat-1).
Also, as a Ground Segment Field Officer, he was involved in the coordination of training programmes for twenty-five (25) ground segment Engineers for Ground Control of the first Nigeria Communication Satellite (NigComSat-1) in China, through Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC), China.


Dr. Sholiyi holds an M.SE and Ph.D. in Electrical, Computer and Communication Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama, United States in 2013 and 2014, respectively. He also bagged a M.Sc. in Microwave and Wireless Subsystems Design from the University of Surrey, Guildford, England, United Kingdom. His research interests include Communications system – antenna propagation, numerical methods in electromagnetics, characterization of electromagnetic properties of materials, and microwave devices. In 2015, he started developing interest in guidance, navigation and control (GNC) of aerospace vehicles. He has a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State.


He is a professional member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), USA, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA, Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, (NIEEE), the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).


Engr. Dr. Sholiyi Olusegun is a Fellow of Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers (NISEng).
As a seasoned researcher, he has written and co-authored many publications and papers for presentations at local and international conferences.
