In a bid to promote public–private partnership, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has reiterated public and private institutions’ role in driving speedy national development, as no sector can thrive in isolation.
He made this statement while receiving a delegation from the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC) at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, the visit which is to build on the existing partnership between both organizations, marks another step in building stronger ties among institutions that are key to solving national challenges.
Dr. Adepoju expressed his excitement about the partnership and noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President can only come to life when organizations pull their resources and expertise together for the greater good of the country.
He further stated that, closer collaboration with the NIWRMC will unlock space technology solutions for smarter water resource management and sustainable development.
The NASRDA Chief Executive stressed that the Agency is ready to deploy all its resources and skilled personnel to ensure the partnership reaches its highest potential.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of the Nigeria Integrated Water Resources Management Commission (NIWRMC), Dr. Abdulmumini Aminu-Zaria, explained that the purpose of the visit was to seek support from NASRDA, saying that the Agency has the highest capacity and most advanced technology needed to strengthen water security across the country.
He further stated that NASRDA’s expertise is vital in areas such as capacity building, targeted technical training, provision of geographical data, advanced remote sensing, data sharing through cloud-based platforms, as well as the deployment of drone technology for monitoring floods and other water-related challenges.
Dr. Aminu-Zaria further stressed the importance of collaboration between both Agencies in designing and implementing solutions, adding that a joint contribution to shaping national policy in water resources will ensure more effective management and sustainable outcomes.
