The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has advocated for a strategic alliance between the Agency and the Bank of Industry (BOI) to accelerate Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation through innovation and technology.
He made this statement during a courtesy visit to the MD of BOI, Dr. Olasupo Olusi at Industry’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
Dr Adepoju explained that Space Science and Technology are not just tools for exploration, but strategic instruments that shape economic progress, national security, and industrial competitiveness.
He emphasized that nations with strong Space capabilities gain significant advantages in communications, agriculture, climate monitoring, defense, and innovation, which directly impact on the world’s socio-economic growth.
The NASRDA boss explained that while the Agency has consistently delivered groundbreaking research and innovations, stronger financial collaboration is needed to scale these ideas from laboratory concepts into viable industrial applications.
According to him, mutually beneficial cooperation between pertinent stakeholders would unlock Nigeria’s potential and position the nation as a competitive player in the global innovation space.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of the Bank of Industry, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, commended NASRDA for its remarkable achievements in the nation’s space sector.
He noted that NASRDA’s track record reflects resilience and innovation, firmly positioning the Agency as a driving force in Nigeria’s technological future.
Dr. Olusi further pledged BOI’s readiness to provide the needed support and assistance to NASRDA in the actualization of its mandate
