The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has described the agency as a vibrant platform for the Nigerian youth, where innovation, creativity and aspirations are nurtured to drive national development and global competitiveness.

‎He made this assertion while receiving members of the Nigerian Youth Progressive Forum (NYPF) during a courtesy visit to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Dr Adepoju pointed that NASRDA remains strategically positioned to empower young Nigerians through opportunities in cutting-edge research, adding that the space sector is not limited to a single discipline but spans engineering, security, agriculture, communication and environmental management.

‎According to him, this multidisciplinary nature makes NASRDA a critical driver and hub for innovation and youth participation in national transformation.

Dr. Adepoju explained that NASRDA holds immense potential to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth and the global space community while highlighting the agency’s local and international partnerships as major collaborations capable of positioning NASRDA for full commercialization and sustainable impact.

‎The Director General further revealed that his administration has introduced a new media policy that strategically elevates the Media and Corporate Communications Department to play a central role in projecting the agency’s activities.

He added that the department was recently recognized as the Best Department of the Year 2025, highlighting the importance of transparency, visibility, and public engagement in advancing NASRDA’s mandate.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Nigerian Youth Progressive Forum, Abubakar Sadiq, while expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to meet with the Director General, said
‎the visit inspires and reaffirms the Forum’s confidence in the leadership and vision of the agency.

Mr. Sadiq explained that, based on his research and observations, NASRDA is a critical entry point for young Nigerians seeking growth in technology and innovation and a viable pathway for contributing to the nation’s technological advancement.

‎It was in this light, he revealed that the Nigerian Youth Progressive Forum has produced a magazine aimed at showcasing NASRDA’s achievements and projecting the impactful work being carried out under the current administration.

He highlighted NASRDA’s role in national security through space-based solutions while stressing that sharing the achievements under Dr. Adepoju’s, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, is key to inspiring confidence and youth participation.
