Engr. (Dr) Sadiq Umar Abubakar started his educational career at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna where he graduated with a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering in 1995. His MSc. was in 2004 in Mobile and Satellite Communications, at the University of Surrey, Guilford, United Kingdom. His undying quest for knowledge spurred him to obtain his PhD in 2011 in Electronic and Computer Engineering, Brunel University, West London, United Kingdom. He commenced his Engineering practice with Afri-Project Consortium/PTF in 1997. He has also attended several training courses both in Nigeria and abroad. He was among the only 15 Nigeria Engineers that participated in the Know-How Transfer and Technology (KHTT) for the Design, Manufacture and Launch of Earth Observation Satellite (NigeriaSat-1), (2001 -2003) Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL), Surrey Space Centre, United Kingdom. And in 2005- 2007, he underwent another training programme in Know How Transfer and Technology (KHTT) fas field officer space segment for the Nigeria Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT-1) wth over 25 engineers/scientist under his supervision in China Great Wall Industries Cooperation and China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), Beijing, China.
Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar is also an Assistant Professor, African University of Science and Technology, AUST, Abuja, and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer, Department of Electrical Electronics at University of Abuja and Baze University
COREN Certified Engineer, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Fellow of The Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers. He is a member of the following professional bodies:

- Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers (NISEng)
- The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
- The Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
- American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
An ardent scholar, he has written and presented over 25 conference papers and 30 peered reviewed high impact journals in Elsevier, COPOUS and IEEE at both local and international fora.
An accomplished Communication Engineer, Engineering Project Manager, A Senior Lecturer and a Mentor. Engr. (Dr) Sadiq Umar Abubakar is currently the Director-Centre for Satellite Technology Development (CSTD), in charge of day to day running of the Centre, coordinating research activities of Engineers and Scientist, preparation of CSTD budget and budget defence in both Senate and House of representative respectively.
He is a member Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for Nigerian participation in International Telecommunication Union (ITU), African Telecommunication Union (ATU) and other regional telecommunication experts meeting. He was also nominated to the position of Coordinator and Vice Coordinator for the working groups of the WRC-19 preparatory meeting for the ECOWAS region by the Honourable Minister of Communication and Digital Economy. Engr. (Dr)Sadiq Umar Abubakar strongly holds principles of Professional Ethics and Total Quality Management (TQM). A core member of the NSE who has always upheld the values and ideals of the society, he has served the NSE under various capacities both at Division and Branch levels amongst which include Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers – 2019-2021, Vice Chairman, Nigerian Institution of Space Engineers- 2017- 2019 and he is currently an Exco Member (NISEng).
