The Director General and Chief Executive, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has urged stakeholders across Nigeria space ecosystem to adopt a culture of cooperation and inclusivity in line with the vision of the National Space Council (NSC).

He made the call while presiding over a meeting of the strategic working group established to harmonise operations and reduce institutional conflicts within the sector, at NASRDA headquarters in Abuja.

Dr Adepoju stated at the meeting which convened representatives from key space and communication sectors, that overlapping responsibilities and ambiguous mandates have frequently impeded the industry’s optimal performance.

He emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of institutional responsibilities to ensure that each organisation operates efficiently within its defined scope.

The NASRDA Boss maintained that a unified approach is essential for delivering the socio-economic benefits of space technology to Nigerians, adding that collaboration remains key to national growth and innovation.

Also speaking, the Chief of Defence Space Administration (DSA), Major General Philip Ilodibia, stressed the importance of clearly understanding the roles of all stakeholders.

He called for stronger partnerships and coordination, particularly in areas that intersect with national security and technological development.

A major highlight of the session was an interactive dialogue among participants, where practical ideas and strategies were proposed to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, enhance inclusivity, and prevent potential disputes.

The working group comprises representatives from institutions such as National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, Defence Space Administration (DSA), Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), and the National Frequency Management Committee (NFMC).

The initiative is widely seen as a strategic step toward building a more cohesive and result-driven space ecosystem that can effectively support Nigeria’s development agenda.
