The Director-General and Chief Executive of National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has said that the media remains an essential ingredient for the growth and development of any organisation.
He made this remark while receiving the management of Independent Newspapers Limited on a courtesy visit to the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja, where discussions centred on possible areas of collaboration.
Dr. Adepoju explained that media engagement plays a significant role in shaping and projecting the image of institutions, noting that when the activities and programmes of an organisation are properly communicated, the public get clearer understanding of its contributions to national development.
According to him, the way information about NASRDA is presented and disseminated by the media influences how the public perceive the Agency and the impact of its work in advancing Space Science and Technology for national growth.
Dr. Adepoju urged the media to continually perform their responsibilities as the Fourth Estate of the Realm in ways that serve the interest and progress of the nation.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Independent Newspapers Limited, Mr. Steve Omanufeme, described NASRDA as Africa’s leading Space Agency, adding that collaboration would help showcase its activities and highlight the role of Space Technology in security, agriculture, and national development.
He added that the partnership would also help strengthen NASRDA’s visibility both nationally and internationally.
Mr. Omanufeme, who appreciated the Director-General and his team for their warm reception, said his organisation looks forward to a strong partnership between NASRDA and Independent Newspapers.
