The Director-General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) Dr Matthew Adepoju has reiterated the need to demystify space science and technology by strengthening public understanding of how space science and technology directly contributes to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

‎He made this statement when he played host to a delegation from Human Rights Radio and Television (Brekete Family) at NASRDA’s headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, establishing a strategic communication framework and deepening public engagement are essential steps in ensuring that Nigerians gain clearer insight into the activities of the Agency.

‎Dr. Adepoju noted that platforms like Human Rights Radio and Television Station with a wide range of audience provide viable channels for demystifying space activities, enhancing public understanding, and showcasing the Agency’s capacity to deliver valuable on the nation.

‎He stressed the need to enlighten the media on the Agency’s capabilities especially in areas where Nigeria already holds strong competitive advantage in the global space ecosystem.

‎Speaking on NASRDA’s ongoing activities, the Director-General revealed that the Agency is currently on a project to select young Nigerians for an orbital experience, giving them first-hand exposure to sub-orbital scientific missions.

‎He also disclosed that the request presented by the Ordinary President of Human Rights Radio has been verbally approved and will be formally endorsed in writing.

‎Earlier, the Chief of Staff to the Ordinary President of Human Rights Radio and Television (Brekete Family), Coach Aminu Ibraheem, explained that their visit was to explore partnership opportunities aimed at supporting NASRDA’s mandate and enhancing national development through technology-driven advocacy.

‎He noted that the Brekete Family has a massive national and global reach, with millions of members and a subscriber base that continues to expand, making it one of the largest human support communities in the world.

Ibraheem expressed confidence that NASRDA can significantly boost Nigeria’s economy through its space programmes, innovations, and research capacity.

‎He concluded that the proposed collaboration is not merely institutional, but a partnership built on shared values, national interest, and a commitment to elevating Nigeria on the global stage.
