The Director General and Chief Executive, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr Matthew Adepoju has said that the Agency is ready to strengthen collaboration with the Defence Space Administration (DSA) so as to accelerate Nigeria’s Space capabilities towards national development.
He made this statement while receiving the newly appointed Chief of Defense Space Administration, and his entourage at Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
While welcoming the new DSA Chief, Dr Adepoju pointed that NASRDA remains dedicated to working hand in hand with the Administration for growth, innovation, and improved coordination within the nation’s space sector.
The NASRDA boss noted that DSA plays a vital role in Nigeria’s space ecosystem, as one of the key partners in enhancing Space research, satellite operations, and defence related technological advancements.
He assured the delegation of NASRDA’s commitment to deepen collaboration, stating that cooperation in capacity building and joint operational coordination is essential for the stability of our nation.
While highlighting some of the challenges confronting the Agency, Dr. Adepoju identified insecurity as a major concern and called on DSA to leverage on its expertise and provide effective security support to the nation’s security apparatus.
Speaking earlier, the Chief of Defense Space Administration, Major General Philip Ilodibia said the visit marked his first official outing since assumption of office.
He pointed that the visit was undertaken in recognition of Dr. Adepoju’s selfless leadership within the space ecosystem and his support for DSA.
The DSA Chief emphasized the need to sustain synergy among the three pillars of Nigeria’s space sector, stressing that space development is a shared responsibility between civil and military institutions.
He added that continued partnership and collaboration are essential to ensure Nigeria assumes its rightful place as a leading force in Africa’s space community.
