The Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST), Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has hailed the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) as the cornerstone of Nigeria’s transformative journey toward sustainable socio-economic development.
Chief Nnaji made this declaration during the opening ceremony of NASRDA’s 2025 Top Management Retreat, held at the Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Represented by his Senior Special Adviser, Dr Robert Ngwu, Chief Nnaji said the theme of the retreat “NASRDA Beyond the Horizon: Building a Resilient Workforce for the Space Economy and National Security” , is both timely and visionary, as it aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to elevate Nigeria into a leading nation in innovation, science, and technology.
According to him, Space is no longer a distant dream exclusive to global superpowers but a strategic frontier where nations assert sovereignty, secure their economic futures, and define their scientific legacy.
The Minister lauded NASRDA’s achievements over the years, acknowledging the Agency’s resilience in the face of numerous challenges and its unwavering commitment to building a future-ready and robust workforce.
He described the retreat as a pivotal moment for recalibrating the Agency’s direction in step with global space economy trends.
Chief Nnaji further encouraged participants to embrace bold thinking, transcend traditional boundaries, and usher in a new era of leadership, accountability, and excellence within the Agency.
The retreat, attended by NASRDA’s top management and key stakeholders nationwide, is envisioned as a strategic platform to reinforce the Agency’s role in national development and position Nigeria as a formidable player in the global space ecosystem.
