The Director General and Chief Executive, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to leveraging its expertise in space technology to digitize strategic sectors across Nigeria, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and national development.
Dr. Adepoju made the statement when he hosted the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Ebonyi State, Dr. Matthew Nwaobasi, at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The NASRDA boss who was represented by the Managing Director of GeoApps Plus Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Onwubuariri emphasized the Agency’s willingness to collaborate with government institutions and stakeholders at all levels to improve service delivery, optimize resource management, and drive revenue generation.
Dr Adepoju lauded Ebonyi State’s proactive approach in seeking technological solutions for governance and encouraged other state governments to emulate its example by partnering with NASRDA for the digitization of critical sectors.
According to him, space-based technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and satellite mapping can revolutionize urban planning, security management, and infrastructure development across the country.
In his remarks, the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Ebonyi State, Dr. Matthew Nwaobasi, expressed appreciation to the NASRDA leadership for the warm reception accorded him and members of his team.
He reiterated Ebonyi state government’s interest in working closely with the Agency to modernize its land administration and security architecture.
Dr. Nwaobasi highlighted key areas of interest, including the digitization of Ebonyi State’s Land Information System (LIS), the establishment of a fully operational GIS laboratory, and the deployment of geospatial technology for security and developmental planning.
He assured that the state government would formally invite NASRDA for a comprehensive Needs Assessment to ensure that the partnership delivers targeted and effective solutions.
