The Director General and Chief Executive, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has again stressed the need to integrate the private sector into Nigeria’s Space ecosystem for the socioeconomic development of the country.
He made the statement during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NASRDA and GNSS Nigeria, MBH Power Limited, and DIGI SOLS 360 IT Solutions Co.L.L.C at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Adepoju explained that the collaboration aligns with one of his administration’s agenda which is to mainstream the private sector into the space industry.
He said, such collaborations will play a crucial role in driving innovation, economic development, and technological advancement in the Nigeria’s Space sector.
The NASRDA Boss assured the new partners of the Agency’s commitment to ensuring the success of the collaboration.
Speaking earlier, a Business Development Manager (BDM) from MBH Power Limited, Mr. Dev Shorey expressed appreciation for the collaboration saying it has the potential to revolutionize Nigeria’s tech industry.
He explained that the partnership would focus on digitalization projects, including the management, supply, installation and operation of vehicle registration systems, electronic tag systems, radio frequency identification (RFID), and smart driving licenses.
Mr. Shorey said ,with rapid advancements in technology, Nigeria must transition from merely adopting foreign innovations to creating its own, thereby driving socio-economic growth and global competitiveness.
The MoU focuses on digitalizing all Ministries, Parastatals, and Government Agencies under the Federal Government of Nigeria as well as the Management, Supply, Installation, and Operation of Vehicle Registration Systems amongst other projects.
