The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr Matthew Adepoju has said that building inclusive systems that benefit everyone is key to true national development.

He made this statement at the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NASRDA and Future Africa at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Adepoju explained that the growth of Nigeria’s space sector requires collaboration between government, industry and young innovators to translate research and potential into practical solutions.

According to him, Nigeria is well positioned with young and intelligent people whose skills, creativity, and innovation have the potential to drive national transformation, boost the space and technology sector and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

The NASRDA boss described the current collaboration as the beginning of a transformative journey, emphasizing that the partnership represents a critical step toward strengthening the nation’s space ecosystem.

He further explained that Nigeria is among the few in Africa with strong human capital and significant research capacity, stressing that determination and deliberate decision to fully develop the nation’s space sector is needed.

Reflecting on the interest of global powers like China, India, and Japan in Nigeria, the DG challenged citizens to stop focusing on negatives and recognize the opportunities that foreign nations are already capitalizing on.

The Director General stated that as NASRDA moves forward to secure its rightful place in national development, the Agency seeks partnerships with young, dynamic Nigerians and Africans to collaborate on its platform, recognizing the vast potential and skills that can drive transformative change for the nation.

He also commended the Future Africa team for their dedication, vision, and commitment to innovation, noting that their achievements serve as a model for young Nigerians aspiring to make an impact in technology and entrepreneurship.

Recalling the productive engagements during their previous visit, the Group Managing Director of Future Africa and Co-founder of Andela and Flutterwave, Mr Iyinoluwa Boyeji expressed pleasure for returning to NASRDA, stating that the team has been working around the world to engage strategic partners and finalize the MoU.

Mr Boyeji expressed confidence that the MoU was not just a formality, explaining that the team will move into action swiftly and the partnership would yield tangible outcomes and success.
