The Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has described the Africa Space Economy Conference and Exhibition (ASEC) 2025 as a formidable platform capable of transforming Africa’s economy into a global masterpiece, through strategic deployment of space technology, innovation, and cross-continental collaboration.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the three-day event at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Chief Nnaji, who was represented by the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, applauded the conference for successfully drawing local and international stakeholders to deliberate on harnessing space technology for Africa’s economic growth.
According to him, the Africa Space Economy Conference is not just a gathering of minds but a movement towards the economic emancipation of Africa.
He added that the resolutions made during the conference will be duly presented to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to ensure that their implementation benefits every Nigerian and, by extension, the African continent.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Mr Osi Imomoh emphasized that the conference has done more to highlight Africa’s space potential and has ignited new partnerships and innovation pipelines that will lead to sustainable development and wealth creation.
He noted that the conference has successfully showcased the immense potential of Africa’s space economy while laying a strong foundation for collaboration and investment that will drive long-term economic growth.
In his contribution, Co-Chairman of the LOC, Engr. (Dr.) Haruna Mohammed, declared that ASEC 2025 has solidified Africa’s readiness to achieve significant economic milestones through space technology.
He expressed gratitude to the Honourable Minister, ,DG NASRDA, ACCI President, sponsors, and participants for their support .
Dr Haruna told the gathering that the third edition of the conference will hold at a date to be announced in June 2026.
One of the highpoints of the closing ceremony was the presentation of a detailed communiqué capturing key resolutions and strategic directions agreed upon by participants while sponsors and exhibitors were also presented with certificates of appreciation for their invaluable contributions.
Adding a cultural touch to the event, the Afri -Theatre troupe thrilled guests with a rich display of Nigeria’s cultural heritage, reinforcing the importance of preserving culture and identity even as the continent embraces technological advancement.
ASEC 2025, co-hosted by NASRDA and ACCI, served as a converging point for policymakers, space scientists, private investors, and innovators committed to leveraging space science for Africa’s economic diversification and global competitiveness.
