The Director General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has stated that integrating local and international private sector expertise will propel Nigeria’s space ecosystem forward, foster innovation, and drive economic development for the nation.

He made this known while receiving the Consul General of Denmark , Ms. Jette Bjerrum, who is also the Trade Counsellor, alongside the Sternula team, during a courtesy visit to the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Adepoju noted that the space economy is fast emerging as one of the world’s most dynamic and influential sectors, and that combining local and international expertise will accelerate progress and mutual benefits for all stakeholders involved.

The NASRDA boss emphasized that the Agency is investing in human capital development to facilitate the building and launch of satellites from Nigerian soil, as well as to enhance the effective use of space technology in tackling national challenges.

While highlighting the importance of the visit, Dr. Adepoju directed that a robust proposal be developed in project areas that would be mutually beneficial to both nations.

He expressed optimism about signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his Danish counterpart and also a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in the near future to solidify the partnership.

In her remarks, the Consul General of Denmark, Ms. Jette Bjerrum, appreciated the Director General for his visionary leadership and warm hospitality.

She expressed admiration for NASRDA’s achievements and enthusiasm about exploring potential areas of collaboration between Denmark and Nigeria in the space sector.

Also speaking, the CEO of Sternula, Mr. Lars Molsted, explained that the company specializes in delivering satellite-based communication services, tailored to the maritime industry and aimed at enhancing safety, efficiency, and digitalization in maritime operations.

Mr. Molsted reaffirmed the company’s readiness to collaborate with NASRDA in every possible area for the socio-economic development of both nations.
