The Director General and Chief Executive, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has said that space technology has become indispensable to national development, as no sector can function effectively today without the support of space-based solutions.

He made this known while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

The Director General, said that the collaboration proposed by NITT is aimed at strengthening capacity development, upgrading its Geographic Information System (GIS) laboratory, and fostering joint research and development efforts in remote sensing and geospatial technologies to support the transport sector.

According to him, the partnership highlights the growing recognition of space technology as a key driver of innovation and improved operational efficiency across various sectors.

He further stated that, in areas of security and service delivery, NASRDA’s platforms are capable of supporting NITT by developing solutions that offer real time data on transport movement and weather conditions, both of which are essential for ensuring safe and efficient transport operations.

The NASRDA boss, expressed appreciation to the Director General of NITT for the institute’s confidence in the Agency, assuring him that he is engaging the right partner and reaffirming NASRDA’s readiness to provide the necessary support and fulfill its collaboration objectives.
