The Director-General and Chief Executive of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has affirmed the Agency’s commitment to promoting knowledge, research, and academic excellence in Nigeria’s higher institutions.
He made this known while receiving a delegation from the Kogi State University, Kabba at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.
Dr. Adepoju stated that the quality of academic performance and research output holds greater significance than the length of time an institution has existed, adding that universities with strong vision and commitment to excellence can achieve rapid growth and make meaningful contributions to national progress.
Dr. Adepoju identified the Physical and Life Sciences Department and the Strategic Space Applications Department as key units that could support the university’s development goals through innovation, practical learning and scientific advancement.
The NASRDA boss stated that, the Agency
can serve as a research partner for the institution, creating opportunities for major academic and scientific research that will benefit both the university and the country at large.
Speaking earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of Kogi State University Kabba and leader of the delegation, Prof. Eniola Kehinde, said the visit was aimed at seeking collaboration with NASRDA as part of the university’s drive to become a leading applied and research-based institution.
Prof. Kehinde explained that as a young university, the institution requires greater exposure to engineering, space science, and modern technology, adding that partnering with NASRDA would help bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application for students and researchers.
