- In line with the growing workforce and the need for policy review in alignment with the Conditions of Service of the Federal Research and Development Agencies, Institutes and Colleges in Nigeria, the Management during the Monthly Top Management Meeting held on Tuesday 29th September 2025 at NASRDA Headquarters, Abuja, approved the guidelines for research Directors’ appointments after retiring from active administration.
- The following constitute the approved criteria/guidelines:
- That he/she must have earned a Ph.D. in relevant field from a recognized accredited university.
- That he/she must have been a Technical Director in the Agency.
- That he/she must have attained 60 years of age or 35 years in active service or 8 years as Director (whichever comes first).
- That he or she must have published at least 10 Technical Articles in a Peer Reviewed Journals.
- That he/she must have 10 Years experience in relevant Research field.
- That he/she must have been registered in relevant professional bodies for at least 5 years.
- That he/she must show membership of at least 3 committees of the Agency that is verifiable.
- That he/she must show evidence of developing fundable proposals and attracting external funding to the mandate of the agency.
- That the Research Director is for a maximum of five (5) years.
- That he/she must be fully ready to lecture.
