WE WANT TO TAKE OUR PLACE IN THE COMMUNITY OF NATIONS, Shaba 

The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Halilu Shaba, has emphasized the crucial role of space science and technology in driving Nigeria’s economy and fostering sustainable development across various sectors. 

Dr. Shaba stated this when he received a delegation from the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), on a courtesy call at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.

Highlighting the principles of commitment, willingness, and transparency as essential for sustaining collaboration, he described ACCI as valuable partners in advancing Nigeria’s space exploration efforts. 

The Director General reaffirmed NASRDA’s dedication to fostering partnerships with entities focused on space exploration for the socioeconomic benefit of the nation. Dr. Shaba also acknowledged the committee’s efforts in organizing last year’s successful African Space Economy Conference, expressed eagerness for a more robust outing this year. 

The Director General expressed readiness to support the committee at this year’s African Space Economy conference. In his remarks, the President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Mr. Emeka Obegolu, who was represented by the deputy president ACCI, Dr. Aliyu Idi-Hong expressed appreciation for the warm reception, adding that the success of the inaugural Africa Space Economy Conference was impressive despite it being the maiden edition. 

 Mr Obegolu, while emphasizing the importance of addressing previous challenges, said there is a need to institutionalize the committee for seamless future conferences. 

He stressed the significance of collaborative efforts between NASRDA and ACCI, urging committees from both sides to commence preparations for the success of the upcoming edition of the conference. The ACCI President added that there is a need to engage more stakeholders to ensure broader participation in the event.

Mr. Obegolu assured that the collaboration between NASRDA and ACCI would yield positive outcomes, reinforcing the existing relationship between the two organizations and contributing to the advancement of Africa Space Sector.
