About MPSDM

The Department is responsible for managing the Agency’s geospatial data, archive and manage effectively the enormous volumes of data generated by earth-orbiting satellites and making such data known and accessible by global researchers.

Our Departmental Mandate

Part II, Section 6 (k) of the 2010 Act Establishing the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) specifically mandated NASRDA to “be the repository of all Satellite data over Nigeria’s territory and accordingly, all collaborations and consultation in space data related matters in Nigeria shall be carried out or undertaken by or with the Agency” The above function is directly the mandate of the department of Mission Planning and Satellite Data Management (MPSDM) which also coordinates and manages the Data contents of the Agency. The department is made up of four (4) technical operational divisions, namely, Mission Planning (MP), Satellite Data management (SDM), Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), and Data Science and Systems Development (DSSD).
