The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr Halilu Ahmad Shaba has advocated the need for synergy among Professional bodies in bridging the gap between Research Institutes and the Academia.

He made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP) to NASRDA’s headquarters in Abuja. Highlighting the indispensability of physics in daily life, the NASRDA boss said that the knowledge often eludes the common person, despite its pervasive application.

He emphasized the need for effective communication between the scientific community and end users for the progress and development of our great nation. Dr. Shaba lamented the poor knowledge of NASRDA’s activities by some critical stakeholders, despite its significant role in enhancing the lives of Nigerians through satellite technology, saying there is the need to work with Professional bodies like Nigeria Institute of Physics to create more awareness on NASRDA’s capabilities, especially in the area of Atmospheric physics.

He affirmed that NASRDA’s NSTItv would play a vital role in demystifying space science and technology for the understanding of the common man.

Expressing appreciation to the delegation for recognizing the Agency’s relevance to their activities, Dr. Shaba assured them of NASRDA’s full support in the actualisation of the noble and objectives of the institute.
