The Director of Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale has rendered adulation on the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Halilu Shaba, for his pragmatic leadership, saying Shaba’s commitment to fostering a global media platform that will serve as a catalyst for the dissemination of science-based content will remain a reference point in the history of the Agency.
Dr. Ale made the commendation during an inspection exercise, carried out on behalf of the Director General, on the Nigeria Science, Technology, and Innovation Television (NSTItv) complex, at NASRDA’s headquarters in Abuja. He said that NSTItv is an attestation to Dr. Shaba’s visionary leadership, adding that the television station, which is poised to play a strategic role in promoting and popularizing advancement in Science, Technology and Innovation, will not only be the first of its kind in Nigeria, but also stand as a pioneering initiative on the entire continent of Africa.
Dr. Ale also emphasized the immeasurable contribution of the Agency’s partner to the NSTItv project, saying that his passion towards the project since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IDEA TV has made the implementation of the MoU between both parties one of the most swiftly implemented in the history of the Agency.
The NASRDA Spokesman, in company of his staff, later visited the Director General in his office to give him a report of the inspection carried out. In his remarks, the Director General highlighted the paramount importance of the media in creating awareness about the significant impact of Space Science and Technology on the various aspects of human existence.
Dr. Shaba said the relevance of Space Science in every facet of human life is unparalleled, and its significance cannot be overemphasized, adding that Space Science is unfortunately frequently overlooked or underestimated, hence the media has the responsibility of creating awareness and communicating the profound relevance of space science to human existence using a veritable platform like NSTItv Dr Shaba said the station has the power to disseminate information, educate the public, and inspire interest in scientific endeavors which will bridge the gap between advancement in science and the general public.
He, however, urged the Media team to remain steadfast in delivering on their role as a department and promised his support for the growth of the media until it becomes a center.
Dr Shaba said that the agency has a unified goal, emphasising that each department, including the media, should work assiduously on their respective programs towards the realization of the common goal of NASRDA.
In her remarks, Mrs. Kaneng Dagyeng of the Media and Corporate Communications appreciated the Director General for steadfastly and constantly encouraging the vision of the NSTItv since its inception.
