NASRDA ASPIRES TO PARTNER REPUTABLE GLOBAL HOSPITAL FOR HEALTHCARE DELIVERY TO NIGERIANS 

The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has said the space agency is poised to activate the telemedicine program aimed to guarantee affordable and effective healthcare delivery for Nigerians.

He made the statement when playing host to a delegation from Thumbay University Hospital UAE, on a courtesy visit at the Agency Headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Adepoju highlighted the importance of the Agency’s telemedicine initiative which according to him was NASRDA’s first project, following the launch of its Communication satellite, aimed at enhancing rapid health responses across the country.

He emphasized the critical role of telemedicine in improving healthcare delivery, particularly in remote and underserved areas saying, potential collaborations with private sector will continue to drive innovation and address critical challenges in the country.

Dr. Adepoju appreciated the delegation for the visit, assuring that NASRDA will continue to work with relevant stakeholders in areas of possible collaboration in the realization of its mandate.

The head of the delegation, who is also the Senior Consultant of the Thumbay University Hospital, UAE Dr. Kiran Kumor, expressed gratitude to the Director General for the opportunity to explore possible areas of collaboration with the space Agency.

Dr. Kumor noted that Thumbay University Hospital has a well-established telemedicine system and is keen to collaborate with the Agency for the benefit of Nigerians.

In his contribution , a Science Communication Specialist and Chief Executive Officer of the Oracle Solutions Limited Mr. Bonney Alaneme, while expressing enthusiasm on the collaboration said the partnership will no doubt open a new chapter in the health care sector in the country.

According to him, the collaboration would be mutually beneficial, enhance healthcare services in Nigeria and foster international cooperation.
