NASRDA REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TOWARDS INDIGENOUS INNOVATION FOR GLOBAL INVESTMENT

The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Halilu Shaba, has reiterated the Agency’s commitment towards supporting educational institutions in the production of indigenous innovations that will attract global investment to Nigeria.

 He made this statement at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja when he hosted delegates from the University of Abuja on a courtesy visit. 

 The Director General, who expressed delight over the visit, added that NASRDA will continue to provide opportunities for students to contribute their quota to the space sector.

 Highlighting NASRDA’s contribution to the university’s academic and research growth, Dr. Shaba said the Department of Geography was given computers to enhance their capabilities. 

 The NASRDA boss assured representatives from the university of the Agency’s determination to sustain the established partnership by making its resources accessible to the university.

 He further added that students could leverage these resources to enhance their academic progress and practical experience. 

 Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, expressed appreciation to the Director General for his recent visit, noting that Dr. Shaba is considered a hero by the students of the University. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that University of Abuja, like NASRDA, is central to the nation’s development and seeks collaboration with the Space Agency, particularly in the area of research. 

 He said the University has partnerships with various government agencies but NASRDA remains integral to its growth and offers more to the students than others The Vice Chancellor explained that the University has recently established a Department of Aeronautical Engineering and needs the Agency’s assistance in training both lecturers and students. According to him, the support provided by NASRDA will significantly enhance research opportunities for many students in the institution.
