SHABA RE-ECHOES THE RELEVANCE OF SPACE TECHNOLOGY ON ECONOMIC GROWTH AND SUSTAINABILITY. 

The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Halilu Ahmad Shaba, has emphasized the crucial impact of Space Science and Technology on Nigeria’s economic growth and sustainable development across multiple sectors. 

 He stated this when receiving the Chairman of EDIB International, on a courtesy call at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja. 

 While highlighting the importance of planning, commitment, and transparency as critical to the successful utilization of Space Exploration, the NASRDA Boss revealed ongoing plans to deorbit two existing Satellites as well as to replace them with new satellite to ensure business continuity.

 Dr Shaba, emphasized the need to create avenues for financing the Space dream, pointing out that Space exploration can significantly contribute to Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

Highlighting the efficiency and capability of NASRDA’s engineers, Dr Shaba explained that the satellite programme in Nigeria is achieving remarkable results despite limited resources. 

 The Director General further emphasized the transformative potential of Space Science and Technology in promoting growth and sustainable development, particularly in Agriculture and Smart Technology. 

 Speaking earlier, the Chairman of EDIB International, Chief Kwame Springer, who expressed his unalloyed support for the Nigerian Space program, said the visit was meant to fine-tune strategies to collaborate with NASRDA in seeking out sponsors for the Agency’s Space programme. 

 Chief Kwame stated that he wants to give back to Africa and his dream is to see an African on the moon as he is ready to actively engage clients on behalf of NASRDA to actualize this vision.
