NASRDA SPOKESPERSON CALLS ON CENTRES AND LABORATORIES STAFF TO KEY INTO DEVELOPMENTAL DRIVE OF ADEPOJU LED ADMINISTRATION

The Director, Media and Corporate Communications, National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, Dr Felix Ale, has called on staff across Centres and Laboratories to key into the developmental drive of the present administration of the Agency under the leadership of Dr Matthew Adepoju.

He made the plea at a special lecture titled “GALACTIC HARMONY: NAVIGATING PEACE AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT FOR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT” held at the Centre for Geodesy and Geodynamics, (CGG), Toro, Bauchi State.

He described the present administration in the Agency as one which is committed to the transformation of the Agency in line with the actualization of it’s mandate.

The NASRDA spokesperson also stressed the need for staff to accord maximum respect to their Centre and laboratory Directors saying, the presiding officers are symbols of authority and representatives of the Director General in their respective stations.

Dr Ale noted with disappointment that the recent letter of threat on the life of one of the Centre Directors and some selected members of staff by some unscrupulous elements at CGG was a thing of concern and embarrassment to the Agency.

The NASRDA Spokesperson recalled the efforts made by his team to ensure that the sad incident does not get to the Press following a request for confirmation of the incident by a senior investigative Journalist in Plateau State.

Such report according to him was capable of generating unnecessary tension in the science and technology community in Nigeria, while its negative news report on the image of the Agency could also be embarrassing.

He added that the Space Agency should be known for excellence and a technology hub for innovation and not a breeding ground for indolence and criminality.

Dr Ale stressed the need for the Management and staff of centre for Geodesy and Geodynamics to work together in harmony.

He advised the staff to be more dedicated and committed as the present administration has zero tolerance for indiscipline and indolence.

In his remarks, the Director, Centre for Geodesy and Geodynamics, Dr Joseph Dodo appreciated the leadership of the Agency for the support in ensuring that the mandate of the centre is achieved, especially in the establishment of more seismic stations spread across the country.

He also appreciated the effort of Dr Ale for preaching the gospel of peace and discipline, describing his lecture as timely especially with the given situation where animosity becomes the other of the day.

Dr Dodo who led the team on facility tour and site inspection of the Very Long Base Interferometry, VLBI, site explained that the VLBI project is indeed a great asset for the space Agency and the nation at large. He said, at the completion of the project, Nigeria will be the first country in sub-sahara Africa to achieve such a remarkable feat.

In his goodwill message, the representative of Toro emirate council, Alhaji Abdullahi Nuhu Hassan, commended the effort of Director General of NASRDA and the Management of CGG for attracting developmental projects to Toro community.

He said projects of this magnitude will announce the community to the world at large thereby engendering unprecedented transformation for socio-economic development of the community.

Alhaji Hassan who commended Dr Ale for his brilliant presentation urged him to help convey to NASRDA Director General a message from the emirate on the need to name the auditorium at the CGG Centre in memory of it’s late Director, Dr Tahir Yakubu.

He described the deceased as a Visionary leader who gave his all for the establishment and development of the centre.

The Centre for Geodesy and Geodynamics is one of the activity centres of the space Agency, saddled with the responsibility of monitoring seismic activities.
